Attorney Laura M. Furniss
With over 500 hours of jury trial and courtroom experience, Laura transitioned from criminal to family law in order to work more closely with her clients. She enjoys the holistic aspects of family law, and brings the same dedication and tenacity she employed when prosecuting felonies and misdemeanors.
Locally, she has worked with the San Francisco, Santa Clara and San Mateo District Attorney’s offices as well as the California Office of the Attorney General.
Laura has extensive public speaking experience in venues across California, Washington and Mexico. She has also lectured for the Santa Clara District Attorney’s Office and the University of San Francisco Inn of Court, among others.
Laura earned her J.D. and B.A. from the University of San Francisco. During law school, she served on the Public Interest Law Foundation and co-founded the USF chapter of Phi Delta Phi—an international legal honor society and the oldest legal organization in continuous existence in the United States.
She received her undergraduate degree with a major in Politics and a minor in Legal Studies. In addition to serving as Vice President of the USF Pre-Law Society, Laura is a lifetime member of the Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Science Honor Society.
